Story behind the reflection

Andrey Tarkovsky often uses water to create reflection. In order to study better in Tarkovsky's scene, I edited his scenes in very blurred lines while fulled up in black with the reflection. By studying his works, I realized that reflection could have another meaning within in. Some changes/ movement in the reflection can tell so many things.

"Tarkovsky for me is the greatest [director], the one who invented a new language, true to the nature of film, as it captures life as a reflection, life as a dream."

1. You can tell the dog ran from the very far end to the front even the background are with lines only.

2. Car moving forward

3. The window shows that the person inside the house turns on the light, all of a suuden someone shoots, water wobbling dramatically.

Research- Fincher explores time, light and space

" In the depth of the mirror the evening landscape moved by the mirror and the reflected figure like motion pictures superimposed one on the other. The figures and the background were unrelated and yet the figures transparent and intangible, and the background dim in the gathering darkness melted together into a sort of symbolic world not of this world."

Fincher took many photographs of the reflection of water after the rain. He then using one palette to represent each of the photograph. As a result of that, he creates an installation that is about time, lighting and space.

Research- Time, movement, distance and space

The theme of these short videos are very straight forward yet thoroughly look at time and space.

1. PingPong- This video is experimenting the possibilities of direction (Camera movement) to explore space.

2. Waterpulu- This short video has put a ball in the middle as focus point, the movement at the background go forward and backward. This experimenting of eye capturing is very successful because it makes us feel the image looks as if it is not moving at all, but people spinning around the ball.
